We want to make the stay of everyone that stays with us as enjoyable as possible and in this respect, we have described our facilities in this guide as accurately as we can. This is to ensure that when guests book our self-catering accommodation, they can do so with every confidence that the cottages are suitable for their specific requirements.

We have provided a 360-degree virtual tour and detailed floorplans on our website so that guests can see exactly what they are booking.

Level access

  • The main entrance has level access, there is a temporary ramp that can be put in situ prior to your arrival on request.

  • There is level access from the main entrance to: Double Bedroom, Bathroom, Open Plan Lounge and Kitchen.

Access with steps

  • There is a step from the main entrance to the communal courtyard.

Bedrooms

  • We have non-allergic bedding.

  • We have a portable hoist.

Level access bedrooms

  • From the main entrance to the bedroom, there is level access.

  • The route to the bedroom is 750mm wide, or more.

  • The bedroom door is 750mm wide, or more.

  • There is unobstructed floor space 1200mm by 900mm, or more.

  • The bathroom has a level access shower.

Hearing

  • The TVs all have subtitles.

  • We have a hearing loop in in the cabin.

  • All staff have disability awareness and Next Generation Text training.

Visual

  • The walls and the doors have high colour contrast.

  • We have information in large print.

  • Visitor information is also available in Easy Read format.

General

  • The accommodation is rated by the National Accessible Scheme as suitable for Older and less mobile guests, Part-time wheelchair users, Assisted wheelchair users, Visually impaired guests.

  • Staff are available 24 hours a day.

  • All staff have disability awareness training.

  • We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

  • We have secure reserved out of town parking. The address is:  St Ives Secure Car Park, Penbeagle Lane, St Ives, TR26 2JH.  There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is 1.07m / 1.72km miles from My Cottages in St Ives (20 minutes’ walk).

  • There is a luggage drop off available within 2 minutes’ walk from My Cottages in St Ives.

Arrival

Path to main entrance

  • From the entrance gate to the cottage there is level access.

  • The entrance gates are 1012mm or wider.

  • The key safe is adjacent to the door, the access code will be provided prior to your stay.

Main entrance

  • The main entrance has level access.

  • The step up at the front door is 190mm however, there is temporary ramp which can be put in place prior to your stay on request.

  • The door is 790mm wide.

  • The main door is side hung and manual.

Bedroom

  • The route to the bedroom is 700mm wide. The bedroom door is 835mm wide. There is 650mm clearance at the left-hand side and 650mm to the rear of the of the bed and 850mm to the right-hand side of the bed. The bed is 570mm high. There is 200mm clearance under the bed.

  • The double bedroom has windows.

  • The bedroom has ceiling lights, bedside lamps, and natural daylight.

  • The bedroom TV has subtitles.

  • The bedroom is non-smoking.

  • We provide non-allergic pillows and bedding on request.

  • There are low level drawers for storage.

  • Some furniture items can be moved in the bedroom to improve accessibility.

Bathroom

  • The bathroom door is 835mm wide.

  • The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower.

  • The shower and bath controls are easily accessible before entering the bath.

  • We provide a non-slip shower mat which is stored in the drawer under the handbasin.

  • The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the front only and fully accessible. The toilet seat is 410mm high.

  • The basin is 670mm high. The taps are lever operated. There is no space under the basin.

  • The walls and the bathroom fittings have high colour contrast.

  • The bath edge is 600mm from the floor.

  • The bathroom TV has subtitles.

Self catering kitchen

  • The kitchen is open plan.

  • From the main entrance to the kitchen there is level access.

  • The roue is 725mm wide or more.

  • The kitchen surface has built in units underneath and 940mm high, the breakfast bar has clear under space.

  • The hob and sink are 940mm high.

  • The oven, fridge and dishwasher are all built into the units at a low access level.

  • The microwave is at a raised height of 520mm above the kitchen worktop.

  • The crockery is kept in high level units but can be moved to low level units on request.

Lounge

  • From the main entrance to the lounge there is level access. The entrance door is 790mm wide.

  • The lounge area is open plan with the kitchen.

  • There is one sofa with a seat 450mm from the floor.

  • The lounge TV has subtitles.

Getting around outside

Communal courtyard

  • The courtyard has a secure gate with a security code which is provided to guests on arrival.

  • There is a security light activated by a PIR sensor at the courtyard entrance.

  • As the courtyard is secure mobility scooters can be left safely inside (at the guests own risk).

  • The courtyard has level access.

  • We provide a temporary low-level ramp from the cottages to the courtyard.

  • There is shared seating in the courtyard, the seat height is 470mm the table height is 750mm.

  • The streets in the immediate vicinity of the cottage are cobbled.

  • We can provide information in large print.

  • Our welcome information is provided on our website and can be viewed in an Easy Read format.

  • We welcome access dogs.

  • Our housekeeping team provide 24-hour emergency on call cover.

  • We have provided emergency evacuation procedures and emergency service contact details in the cottages.

  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors have been fitted in the cottage.

  • Our staff have disability awareness training.

  • Members of staff have undertaken dementia and autism awareness training.
